Tena koutou,
you probably haven't heard much in recent weeks about the upcoming trial for Taame, Rangi, Emily and Urs. The four are the last to still face charges from the state terror raids of 15th October 2007 and their trial will start on 13th February 2012 in the Auckland High Court. This date has been confirmed which means we all have less than TWO MONTHS to get ready and do what we can to support.
There is plenty of things you can do. Here are a few ideas:
1. Talk to your whanau, friends and workmates about the trial and get them signed up to this email list (email us their address) and 'like' our facebook page to stay up to date: https://www.facebook.com/pages/October-15-Solidarity/25598818522
2. If you are in Auckland or planning to come to Auckland for the trial (or some of it - it is expected to last three (!) months), have a think about what you could do in terms of political and practical solidarity.
3. If you are a member of a union or a political group, get a story about this trial printed in your magazine to make the links between this trial and political activism and aspirations for tino rangantiratanga.
4. Write a letter to the editor - a great way to keep this show-trial in the public's mind.
5. Watch 'Operation 8' - you can get it at many Video stores and libraries. Or you can buy a copy here: http://cutcutcut.com/Operation8.html
6. If you are in Wellington, go to the book launch this Saturday, 7pm at Thistle Hall. Some Justice, a book of political poems and lyrics by local Wellington punk poet and songwriter Ken Vicious, will be launched.

1. Some Justice in the Urewera raids - Book launch
Some Justice, a book of political poems and lyrics by local Wellington punk poet and songwriter Ken Vicious, will be launched by Rebel Press on Saturday 17 December at 7pm at Thistle Hall on Cuba Street.
The book features Urewary: An Act of Conspiracy a poem written in the immediate aftermath of the 2007 ‘terror raids’ in Te Urewera and around the country. It lyrically sums up the whole of the police’s Operation 8 and the wider political context of the war on terrorism.
The more than 50 poems and song lyrics traverse a range of issues, ideas and events that have shaped the political landscape of Aotearoa New Zealand for the past 10 years.
A portion of the funds from the sale of each book will go towards the solidarity fund for the four people still facing charges in the Urewera case. The trial is set down for February next year in Auckland.
The launch is a free event featuring a live set from punk band Dead Vicious along with DJs Frittermix and Snowpony for a dance set.
The event is also an opportunity for Rebel Press to celebrate the end of the year and mark our four-year anniversary.
Rebel Press is a small anarchist publisher based in Wellington. We are non-profit, we sell our books at cost, and we make the contents of our books freely available online.

1. Lace and shadow created images of terror
An artist whose Palmerston North home was raided as part of the 2007 anti-terror raids is using her art to vent her frustration.
Terri Te Tau has worked with Rongomaiaia Te Whaiti to create Caste, a collaborative exhibition in Wairarapa using themes of whakapapa and mana to explore what power and influence women have in society.
She says her lace and resin sculptures suggest how privacy is threatened by a growing culture of surveillance.
“They're figurative forms of women but the bodies are shaped in lace. The way the shadows hit the wall is important so the poses, one of them has her hands behind her back and depending on how you perceive it and how you perceive the shadow she could either be handcuffed or she could be holding a gun,” Te Tau says.
The exhiition is now closed but more information can be found here: http://www.aratoi.org.nz/exhibition/2011/11/caste-terri-te-tau-and-rongo....
